Random Reads #6 - The Life of Pi by Yann Martel

This is the sixth consecutive month I'll be participating in Random Reads, hosted by I'm Loving Books, and this is the month that I will get a fiction book. It's not even a question anymore - if the random number generator picks out another non-fiction book, it's clear the world is out to get me.

Random Read #1: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol. 2 by Alan Moore
Random Read #2: Telling Tales: A History of Literary Hoaxes by Melissa Katsoulis
Random Read #3: Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine
Random Read #4: An Utterly Exasperated History of Modern Britain by John O'Farrell

Random Read #5: Two Queens in One Isle by Alison Plowden (not reviewed yet)

*cries* See? Non-fiction all the way. Cross your fingers people!

It’s easy…
  1. If you’re on Goodreads, enable sorting to your to-read shelf (you should see numbers next to each book now).
  2. Go to Random.org and type in the Min as 1 and the Max as how many ever books are on your to-read shelf.
  3. Scroll down to the book matching the number Random.org picks.
  4. Link up to your Random Reads post by clicking on the banner above.
If you’re not on Goodreads just pick a random book from your list in whatever way you want to do it. You can use the method I used above or even just close your eyes and point randomly at a book on your bookshelf if you want (spin the bottle style).

(explanation stolen from last month's sign-up post).

Can it possibly be!? It is! I got a fiction book - The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

I only bought this last week, but it's likely it would have been a while before I actually got round to reading it, so I'm content with this. Haha, it's made my month! :D

Random Reads #5: Two Queens in One Isle by Alison Plowden

Wow, I can't believe this will be my fifth consecutive month participatining in Random Reads, hosted over at I'm Loving Books.

I've managed to complete the assigned book every single month so far, even I have whined a hell of a lot about the complete absence of fiction. Because, seriously, look -

The idea is to read one book, picked completely at random, off your TBR shelf. This is absolutely brilliant for me, as I have a huge TBR that never seems to go down and it doesn't help that I have so many review books waiting to be read!

This is ridiculous. There is no way I just rolled my fifth non-fiction book in a row. I'm not doctoring this, I swear, but it's getting a little much. I don't even have that many non-fiction books on my TBR!

Anyway, Two Queens in One Isle is a non-fiction book by Alison Plowden about Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I. Wish me luck!

Random Reads #4 - An Utterly Exasperated History of Modern Britain by John O'Farrell

Yay yay yay! It's that time again! Since it's halfway through the year, I have a ton of catch-up and summary posts to write, but Random Reads is by far my favourite. So far I've managed to get through every book I've been given. Look -

Okay, so that's only two, but I'm sure there will be many more, as long as Sarah from I'm Loving Books keeps it going!

You know, I haven't managed to get a single fiction book yet. Cross your fingers for July!

Oh look, another non-fiction book. Quelle surprise!

That's actually getting quite strange now. Oh well, I've been looking forward to reading An Utterly Exasperated History of Modern Britain and at least I can count it for Ellie's Mixing it Up Challenge!

Random Reads #3: Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine

I get so excited every time the first of the month rolls round. It's Random Time! So far, I've completed every Random Read I've been given. Take a look -

Random Read #1: The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol. 2 by Alan Moore
Random Read #2: Telling Tales: A History of Literary Hoaxes by Melissa Katsoulis

I spun 54, so my Random Read for June is.... *drum roll* Delusions of Gender: The Real Science behind Sex Differences by Cordelia Fine!

It's kind of strange, but Random.org hasn't actually managed to pick me a fiction book yet. I've had a graphic novel and then two non-fiction. That's alright though - it's likely it would have taken me a while to get round to reading this one :)

Random Reads #2 - Telling Tales by Melissa Katsoulis

I still think this is the best meme I've ever seen. Ever. I'd gladly do it every single week!

I spun 89, so that means my Random Read for May 2012 is... Telling Tales: A History of Literary Hoaxes by Melissa Katsoulis!

This is perfect actually - I borrowed it from the library way back in January, so I'm amazed they're still letting me renew it! At least now I have a reason to get it read instead of adding it to the huge pile of books returned because I ran out of time :)

Random Reads #1 - The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol.2.

I've just seen the best idea in the whole world - Random Reads, hosted by I'm Loving Books.

The idea is to read one book, picked completely at random, off your TBR shelf. This is absolutely brilliant for me, as I have a huge TBR that never seems to go down and it doesn't help that I have so many review books waiting to be read!

So the fates have spoken - this month I'll be reading The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Vol. 2. I bought this at a Comic Convention right after my birthday last year. August 7th apparently. This is a good choice actually - I haven't actually read any graphic novels this year yet :)

Completed! Read my review here.
