IMM #35 - including Cinder, The Paris Wife, Zoology and more!

I know, I know - this post, like many others, is horribly late. Normally I'd have let it go and tacked it on the end of this Sunday's IMM, but I'm hoping to a) have a lot of birthday books on Saturday and b) be horribly hungover on Sunday, so I figured it was probably best to just force this one out.

 Sorry for the crappy picture. That's not the complete total either, I'm afraid - I had to leave a load at my boyfriend's because I just couldn't drag them home. In my defence, this is over the last few weeks so it's not like I bought them all yesterday. 

On the other hand, if you look to your right (*tour guide voice*) you'll see my TBR total for July, which may have gone up by 26. Twenty six. That means that I've somehow obtained more than 26 books this month, which is really, really bad. I swear that August will have a downward arrow.

Anyway. Books. 

 I was left to fend for myself in a library different from our local one while The Boy was at a job interview and, uhh... it didn't end well. The library trip, not the interview. That library in general is fairly crap (you know the type - it has more computers than books), but the fantasy section was more than acceptable.


I've read Touch of Power already, but I've heard great things about Theft of Swords. I think I've been in a fantasy mood lately, but I've been stuck with non-fiction and chunky classics so I haven't had chance to indulge.

These are my only full price books - the first Anno Dracula book, bought because I accidentally bought the second one in the series and I doubt it would make much sense.


Ahh, Red Glove. I absolutely adored White Cat when I read it last week and my Mum bought me the second one to cheer me up after a particularly irritating hospital appointment. This will be the very first book I get to after my current batch of review books, I swear.


I'm really excited about A Discovery of Witches too. I won a copy of the second book and it's been killing me not to read it, so I hunted round Bradford a copy of this one yesterday. Harder to find than you'd think, by the way.

 It's charity shops that have been my downfall, I think. Between working at British Heart Foundation and daily walking through the charity shop-infested town... it's not so healthy. 


On the bright side, A Streetcar Named Desire is on my Project Fill in the Gaps and after the amazing We Bought A Zoo, I'll pretty much read anything with a zoo worker in.

Blame Ellie for these. I read her post about her brilliant haul from The Works and, uhh.... toddled off and bought exactly the same books! Ahem.

 These are ReaditSwapit trades. I just finished An Utterly Exasperated History of Modern Britain by John O'Farrell for this month's Random Reads, and especially loved the political side, so I couldn't resist trying for his anti-Conservative tirade, Things Can Only Get Better. Well no, they can't, as you end up with David Cameron, but hey ho. 

Nearly there! The Assassin's Curse was sent to me for review, Shadow of Night is a signed copy that I won in a giveaway over at Curiosity Killed the Bookworm and This Is Not A Test was sent to me by Vonnie as a RAK.

I'm stupidly excited about that last one - I've been wanting to read it for ages now.


Argh, I can't wait to get stuck in to some of these! I haven't got through nearly enough books this month as I was reading Anna Karenina, which is obviously huge and quite complex, and then a non-fiction history book, so they took up quite a lot of time between them.
