Jubilee Giveaway Hop

So as everybody in Britain knows, this weekend is the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, which means that she's been on the throne for a whole 60 years. She's only 4 years away from being the longest reigning monarch of all time, after Queen Victoria.

There's a public holiday next week and shops everywhere are closing to celebrate. Street parties are popping up and you just can't walk past a shop window without seeing British flags. Honestly? I love it. I'm a staunch monarchist and it's wonderful to see everybody uniting to celebrate our Queen.

Ellie, from Curiousity Killed the Bookworm, is also doing her part! She's set up the Jubilee Giveaway Hop and Booking in Heels is proud to be a part of that.

Two people will win one of the following books by British authors. If you want a later book in that particular series, that's okay too. Open to anywhere The Book Depository ships.

So, that's -

We Bought A Zoo by Benjamin Mee
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne
The Prestige by Christopher Priest
How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
Before I Go to Sleep by S.J. Watson
The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists by Gideon Defoe
Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch

  5. I might not be British, but hey, any reason is great to celebrate, right? Especially if it involves a giveaway, teehee!

  6. Hey chuck! What an awesome idea - I'd have totally joined in if I'd known about it! I watched the most lovely documentary about the Queen last night - the one with Alan Titchmarsh on ITV - then switched over to the news where some Republic guy was blathering on about how it was just sixty years in a job, dudes, nothing to fuss about. SHOW SOME RESPECT, MAN, SHE'S THE FRICKIN' REIGNING MONARCH! I really wish we were closing at some point and not working right through all four days though, it feels like we're missing out on all the fun... *waves Union Jack cheerfully*

  9. And I shall be working for the next few days - boo! Wish I could celebrate in some way. I suppose entering your giveaway and begging for How to be a Woman, Pirates (bought book 2 in the Kindle Daily Deal the other day), and Rivers of London would do it. /beg. ;)

  18. Your giveaways are always awesome :-) And of course a few of these are already on my TBR as you've raved about them! I like that our reading tastes are similar enough for me to pretty much be sure that I'll... if not love at least have a strong opinion about any book that you like!

  19. (Ah-ha! I'm commenting again! Watch me fly...)

I kind of wasn't going to enter because I thought it would be weird if I won...although I don't know why!

Regardless, you know that I think that you're one of the most generous humans that I know. What a perfect way to acknowledge the Jubilee :)
