I can't decide if it's because I'm in a funny mood this weekend or because it's actually not very good. I didn't get on all that well with Deadline, so I suspect I'm projecting the flaws of that book onto this one. It's not really fair, but hey ho. Time to go level my Finleon.
Wearing: A dress with a skeleton on it. Apparently I still think it's Halloween.
Eating: Nothing that I've managed to keep down. I did see an amazing-looking Dominos pizza at Book Addicted Blonde earlier though and now I'm pretty much desperate to order takeaway.
Watching: I actually kind of do have an answer for this, for once. I watched The Hunger Games with Mum last night, for which I had low expectations but actually turned out to be pretty good. I still think that Peeta doesn't look right and I think they've changed Catching Fire quite a lot (so I might give it a miss), but I was impressed on the whole.
Don't worry, I'll pull myself together by Monday.
Feeling: I really need to start reading ahead for these questions... See above.
Loving: My friends, online and off. The online ones notice when I haven't been around for a week and poke me to make sure I'm still alive, and the offline ones make me laugh and buy me lunch when I'm too socially awkward to retrieve my bankcard from where I left it.
Wanting: To go get drunk.
Thinking: About a job I've applied for that I really do want an awful lot. It's the sort of thing that I'd considered doing before, but you have to be a solicitor/barrister for five years first... which I'm not. This would be an entry into the profession without actually having to practice first. Vague, I know.
I'm not sure how much chance I have, but I put a lot of effort into the application and it wouldn't be just a job for me. I actually want to do this.
Looking forward to: New Year, when I can buy books! I've been doing really well lately - I haven't been even vaguely tempted to buy books because of my 300 Before 2015 Challenge, but I caught sight of my Amazon wishlist earlier.... and now I'm envisioning a huge box of books arriving, all for meeeee.
In January, when I'm down to my target, I'm definitely going to treat myself and I can't wait!

1) I'm currently wearing a jumper with a giant raccoon face on it. I don't know what time of year I think it is.
ReplyDelete2) Keeping everything crossed for your potential new job. What is it? I'm totally intrigued and it sounds fabulous! I'm positive that you're perfect for it.
3) I too have given up on buying books for the time being. Rather annoyingly, I was FINALLY invited to join the book club at my office and the book for the December 'meeting' is We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, which I am utterly ambivalent about but have now had to buy because I didn't want to back out of the first session that I could go to because I "had heard it was a bit preachy". So now I've not only had to acquire an extra book but one that I wasn't that fussed about...
4) Boo for Blackout! I'm disappointed on your behalf that that series hasn't panned out that well :| Maybe it'll pick up! I'm planning on finishing NOS4R2 this weekend and my GOD is that book good! Completely disturbing, obviously, but SO GOOD.
1) Least nobody can say our sartorial choices are boring, right?
Delete2) I've texted you about this already, because it's slightly too... yeah, to want to mention on here :)
3) Hmm. I've texted you about this too... I'm not sure why I'm even typing this reply on here! I reviewed it not so long back and wasn't really a fan, but Jenny liked it:

4) Actually, it's really starting to look up. It was quite tedious for the first quarter but now I'm interested. Much better than the second book - less driving around and sulking. The narrator is different, which helps quite a lot.
I know, I loved NOS4R2! I kind of want to reread it already but I have so many other books...
Oh, Hanna, I'm sorry you're feeling rotten. *gently hugs and virtual tea/coffee/wine/cake* Best of luck with the job application. I really hope you get it.
ReplyDelete1) Sorry about the pizza temptation when you were feeling sick. :(
ReplyDelete2) Why did you think The Hunger Games would be crap? I wasn't keen on the casting for Peeta, but... Catching Fire is a FANTASTIC movie, dude. Better than The Hunger Games, I think. The arena's amazing, and it's just full of rebellious moments. Also Jena Malone's a kickass Joanna. WATCH IT.
3) *poke poke poke poke poke* HANNA. HANNA. HEY, HANNA... Hi.
4) Keep up the good work on the not book buying thing girl, you can do it! I kind of cracked and bought a couple on eBay, but I'm reining it back in now, and it's still a massive improvement on my usual monthly expenditure, so... I'm doing well bypassing the Tesco book aisle, which is one of my biggest temptations! COME ON! WE CAN DO IIIIT!
Feel better, hope you get the job etc etc, you know all this, but YES.
