Well, it's the third day of Bout of Books 6.0 and that means it's time for my challenge! Participating in the challenge gains you an entry into my great giveaway - two winners will win their choice in books up to the value of $15 or £10 from The Book Depository. This giveaway is international.
Here's how to join in:
- Turn to page 48 of your current book, or 48% if you're using an e-reader.
- Take the first complete sentence on that page and copy it.
- Now you're going to continue the story! Ignoring the real plot or anything else you know about that book, add four new sentences of your very own. You can morph the plot completely, kill everybody off or go off on a huge tangent - anything goes!
Here's an example, using The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.
The first complete sentence on page 48 reads -
So they laughed and sang in the trees; and pretty fair nonsense I daresay you think it.
And I'm going to complete it like this...
So they laughed and sang in the trees; and pretty fair nonsense I daresay you think it. I myself do not believe that it is nonsense - I see nonsense in the Law Courts on a daily basis and have seen far more nonsensical things than a group of singing dwarves. Half of the legal principles I am forced to learn are nonsense. I also know a girl called Daffodil, and if that is not nonsensical, I don't know what is. Her mother calls her 'Daffy,' for God's sake.
See? Completely un-Hobbit related. Post your new story and add it to the linky below to enter. When you've done that, fill in the Rafflecopter and cross your fingers!
That was fun! I totally changed the theme of my book :)
