Bout of Books Wrap-Up

Bout of Books Read-a-Thon

I can't believe the Bout of Books read-a-thon is over already! Like I said in my update post, this was my first ever read-a-thon, but I'll definitely be back. I've always avoided them before, because they're usually over 24 hours and that's just not do-able for me. I'll definitely be back for the next Bout of Books though - I had a fantastic time, exceeded my goals and met a whole load of new bloggers!

These were my goals -

Paperback ook cover of The Pirates! in an Adventure with Moby Dick by Gideon DefoeBook cover of In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano LongBook cover of Telling Tales: A History of Literary Hoaxes by Melissa Katsoulis

I wanted to finish In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano Long, as I had about half of it left at the start of the read-a-thon. I also wanted to read and finish both The Pirates! in an Adventure with Moby Dick and Telling Tales: A History of Literary Hoaxes.

I actually completed all of this and a little more. Here's what I actually read:

Paperback ook cover of The Pirates! in an Adventure with Moby Dick by Gideon DefoeBook cover of In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano LongBook cover of Jurassic Park by Michael CrichtonBook cover of Telling Tales: A History of Literary Hoaxes by Melissa Katsoulis

Book cover of The Devil and Miss Prym by Paulo CoelhoBook cover of The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner

That's half of:
  •  In Leah's Wake by Terri Giuliano Long, as I needed to finish it
  • The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner, because I wasn't masochistic enough to try and finish it.
But, more importantly, I started and finished:
Four full books and two halves - not too shabby, I think.

That's a total of 1330 pages! It's a much better total than I expected and I'm more than happy with it.

I also took part in two mini-challenges - the this or that challenge and then the shoe challenge on Friday. I swear I've never been so excited about a challenge before in my life - I managed to use not only my own books, but my own shoes as well!

So, long story short, I had an awesome time last week and I'll definitely be signing up for the next one.

My goal was to read 5 books and I fell short of that. Oh well lol.

  2. Woohoo! YOU DA MAN! So to speak. :D

I definitely fell short of my goals, but I DID get some non-reading stuff done AND read from three amazing books, so I'm a happy bunny. I'm already raring to go for Bout of Books 5.0 - but gutted that the poll choices for the August read-a-thon cover every week BUT the first week, when I have an extra two days off! Oh well...

  3. Great list of books! Congrats on finishing. I read In Leah's Wake eons ago. I don't read a lot of contemporary novels, but I really liked that one. Hope you get to join us in August!
