League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Book Challenge: Quarter Wrap-up

Can you believe we're a quarter of the way through the year already? It seems to have flown by so quickly. In those three months I've read 30 books, redecorated my house and been accepted to Law School!

Unfortunately it also means we're a quarter of the way through the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Book Challenge 2012! If you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, read more and sign up here - it's not too late!

For those that have already joined, I thought it might be fun to have a look at what we've reviewed so far. So, organised by character, we have -

Allan Quatermain - King Solomon's Mines

Howling Frog Books
Book World In My Head
The Book Stop

Mina Harker - Dracula

Booking in Heels (me!)
The Book Stop
Book World In My Head
Nylon Admiral
Lit Addicted Brit

Captain Nemo - Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea

Book World In My Head

Jekyll/Hyde - The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Howling Frog Books
Boekenwijs (in Swedish?)

Frank Skinner - The Invisible Man

Dorian Gray - The Picture of Dorian Gray

Tom Sawyer - The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

The Phantom - The Phantom of the Opera

James Moriarty - The Final Problem

Boekenwijs (in Swedish?)

Can you believe this? I'm thrilled there's been such participation, especially from readers like Howling Frog Books who's read six books already! Then there's Book World In My Head and The Book Stop who have each read three :)

I've only read one book for my own challenge, I should be ashamed!

Additionally, although it wasn't part of the challenge, we've also got reviews of the graphic novel and the film by Nylon Admiral.

I'll be back again at the end of June with another update, but thanks for all your progress so far everyone!

  1. Gosh - I just think that other people are so much better at challenges than me! I'm totally looking forward to reading the books on the list and yet I haven't started Q_Q

I'm DEFINITELY going to read one in April. That is totally a promise!

By June, your list is going to just be ME. Or, you know, me and everybody who is good at challenges...

    1. Technically you already have you know :) I included your Dracula review because I didn't really see the point in you reading and reviewing it twice in two years.

And hello!? It's MY challenge and I've read ONE! The same one as you coincidentally, but I'll try and hold back my surprise, shall I? :p

    2. So it is! I hadn't noticed that for some reason. Probably because I was skim-reading the list in shame!

I actually thought that instead of re-reading it (because you're right, I'm very unlikely to do that), I might watch a film version and review that. Although film versions are scary. I'm even more hopeless with loud and visual scary than I am with literary scary! :s

And ha! I'm hardly spewing my Vimto in shock at the similarity, I've got to admit :)

  2. Yello Miss Hanna! I've only read one so far, never fear. It's the same for my own challenge too, I've read from a couple of categories but I think there are a few folks heading towards a full house already! And don't even get me STARTED on my Books to be Read challenge over at RBR - I haven't even read ONE of my twelve choices yet! FAIL. :)

  3. Congrats in getting into Law school. I think that alone is a good enough reason for not having read many on your challenge.

I am about to reach the books that I have read before and didn't really enjoy. I am hoping that I will change my mind but not really looking forward to them. Think it will slow me down.

  4. My reaction is a little late as I'm terribly behind in my reader. My blog-posts are not in Swedish but Dutch :-) . I'm writing English reviews on Librarything, but as my blog has always been in Dutch I decided to do this as well for this challenge.
    Regards, boekenwijs
