In My Mailbox #25

First off, new shoes! To the untrained eye, they actually look identical to a pair I already own, but do not be deceived! After a close examination, it is apparent that the buckle on this pair is of a slightly different design than my previous pair. So ha! They are merely very, very similar and not identical at all - therefore I definitely required both pairs.

So. Books. I've had a wonderful week this week! The above picture isn't wonderful but my camera's broken after An Incident with a pond.

Only one book from the library this week - The Lady with the Little Dog by Anton Chekhov. It's part of my Fill in the Gaps project so I snapped it right up when I saw it on the shelf!

Next up is Wonder. Aptly named because I've heard so many wonderous things about it! Ahh, not really funny but true regardless. I owe Ellie from Musings of a Bookshop Girl a huge thank you - both for this and for cheering me up on Twitter this morning when I was feeling lousy :)

The rest are all review copies - Brides of Rollrock Island from Random House; Starters from Doubleday; The Fatal Strand, Fury and Darkfall from Harper Collins and finally, Bound was sent to me by the author, Sarah Bryant. These all arrived on the same day and I got so excited when they arrived that I tripped over my pyjamas and cracked my head on a door handle. So I've got an ugly red mark but at least I have a cartload of books too!

Have a great week everyone!

  1. *snort* I'm so sorry for laughing but I do sometimes wonder if you're a living slapstick act?

Oh that is a CARTLOAD of review books. Get you!! :D Did you request those or were some just sent over? I have Wonder sitting waiting to be read and reviewed. REALLY should, I just.. don't tend to be in the mood for it but definitely will give it a try.

    1. Ugh, I know. Considered making use of my God-given gifts and attending Clown School instead of Law School.

Both. Uhh... Starters I requested and it just suddenly turned up, which was a nice surprise. Oh, and Brides of Rollrock Island too. The rest were either offered or just sent. Not as good as Bitterblue though!!!

I do want to read it but... I'll email you.

  3. First of all...I have to say how impressed I am with anyone who can walk in shoes with heels that are that big! I would face plant if I ever tried to wear those! Second, I LOVE the name of your blog...very creative! Nice IMM post :)

  4. Interestingly I have nothing to say about the books, but SHOES! They are beautiful, and although I would never be able to walk in them, I could see myself buying them, just because pretty!

  5. I would seriously break my neck in those shoes. I can barely walk in flats half the time LOL. But I do love them, they're pretty!

    Happy reading!

  8. I want those shoes! And I love the "These are completely different" trick almost as much as I love the "This? I've had this ages" one.

The Rebecca Lim series looks pretty good, although I'm pretty wary of anything to do with angels after the debacle that was my reading Fallen...

Starters and Wonder both seem to be doing that popping up on blogs all over. Starters sounds good but I'm kind of...unsure about Wonder. Still, I want that pile of books in my life - I have book envy :-p

  9. I can understand the book excitement injury, hope you're OK today (though you can always blame anything you do on concussion for a few days).
